Gelabert Residency November 2011 'Uncommon'
Edinburgh International Festival invited
Spanish dance company Gelabert Azzopardi
to host a nine day workshop at Dance
Base in Edinburgh during November and
December 2011.
Gelabert Azzopardi is a leading Spanish
company based in Barcelona. Directors
Cesc Gelabert and Lydia Azzopardi, plus
two company members, came to Edinburgh
and worked with professional (or ex-pro)
dancers aged 50 and above, trained in
contemporary or ballet, to explore ways
to expand and develop practice.
Virginia (in action above ) was thrilled to take part - two weeks being a dancer again!
She hopes very much we can make our own creative environment for older dancers in Cumbria - Eden Dance Collegium - not 'Uncommon' for older dancers to dance, but acceptable and valued. Thanks to Ludus Dance in Lancaster for their weekly professional dance class - life-saver!
